Parade
& Recycling Relay Races with Max
Man 12 noon to 1 pm,
on-going Join Max Man the recycling
super hero in opening the day’s festivities
with a ‘garbage brigade parade’ followed
by recycling relay races and a chance
to make your own super hero costume.
Max Man emerged from the murky depths
of the Central Landfill in Johnston
to alert Rhode Islanders (especially
ones of the still growing variety) that
the landfill is filling up at an alarming
rate. Help Max Man by learning all you
can to keep our state clean and green
for the future.
Silk
Aerialist “Dragonfly” & Workshop
to Follow 1 pm to 2
pm Silks is a Circus art in which the
aerialist performs high off the ground
on a length of fabric, dancing a powerfully
stunning and evocative series of poses
and sequences. Following the performance
will be an interactive workshop enabling
the children to make bendy “silk people”
and choreograph a silk dance of their
own.
Lara Wahl, also known as "Dragonfly",
is a yoga teacher and aerialist performer
with a passion for movement. She particularly
loves how Silks combines strength and
flexibility with graceful fluid motions.
Spontaneous
Creature Theater & Parade with Big
Nazo 2 pm to Who Nose?
Ever wish you were something else? Work
with Big Nazo performers to explore
character creation, the instantaneous
ensemble, and “becoming” big. Then dress
up in Big Nazo’s totally unique giant
foam creations and parade down to the
big field. Be wild, be free, dare to
be weird!
BIG NAZO is an international performance
group of visual artists, puppet performers,
and masked musicians who unite to create
bizarre and hilarious larger-than-life
sized characters, environments, and
spectacles.
Sing
Songs with Mother Nature
3 pm to 4 pm Nature lovers of all ages
are invited to sing and move with fun,
participatory songs that reflect compassion
for the ecology of the planet.
Lindsay Adler, a.k.a. “Mother Nature,”
is an established RI based musician/vocalist/storyteller,
public school arts educator and environmental
advocate. She adds an offbeat sense
of humor to her lively programs which
enlighten, inform and avidly entertain.
